Food safety and certification
Food safety is central to everything Gialmar does, from the auction to delivery.
HACCP at every stage
Gialmar runs a HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) system that ensures the products we sell comply with European Union food law. Temperatures, hygiene, allergens, histamine-sensitive species and traceability are controlled from receiving to dispatch.
Our mission is to supply high-quality products that meet and exceed our customers' requirements. IFS Food certification gives buyers independent assurance of the safety and quality of the final product.

What we are certified for
Certificates and audit summaries are available to customers on request.
What buyers can request from us
Every delivery carries the information EU law requires for fishery products: the commercial and scientific name, production method (caught or farmed), catch area, fishing gear category and, for frozen products, the date of freezing. Lot numbers on labels and delivery notes link each box to our receiving and processing records.
On request we provide current certificates, product specifications, histamine results for scombroid species such as tuna and mackerel, and the information you need for your own supplier approval and HACCP plan. Retail customers can also agree labelling and packing formats with our quality team.
Frequently asked questions
Is every Gialmar product MSC certified?
No. MSC certification covers specific certified lines. Ask our sales team to confirm MSC status for the product and lot you want to order.
Can I receive your IFS Food certificate?
Yes. Customers and prospective customers can request current certificates from geral@gialmar.com.
How do you guarantee traceability?
Every lot is identified from purchase at the port or import, through processing and storage, to the delivery note, so it can be traced in both directions.
